Yelloly joins GT World Challenge Series

Nick Yelloly enjoyed a solid start to his race season in the second round of Nürburgring Endurance Series earlier this month, where he finished fifth overall alongside ROWE Racing teammate Alexander Sims. This coming weekend, the British racer is back behind the wheel of a BMW M6 GT3 for the opening round of the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup at Imola, San Marino and then on to ADAC GT Masters the following weekend for the season-opening Lausitzring event.

Nick, first competed in the then Blancpain GT World Series in 2018, and teams up in the #10 Boutsen Ginion Racing alongside Bronze racers Karim Ojjeh and Gilles Vannelet in what is a Pro-Am entry amongst the 46-car field. The Belgian team has competed in the championship since 2012, switching to BMW machinery in 2015 and will be a new challenge for Nick.

“I’ve had a busy few weeks behind the wheel, which is good thing after a long off-season,” Nick began. “I don’t know the Boutsen Ginion team that well, but they are close to BMW and will put out a strong car, that I know. Together with teammates Karim and Gilles, we’re looking forward to the challenge in such a big field at Imola.

“I started my factory BMW career in this championship, so I’m looking forward to returning this weekend,” he continued. “I then turn my focus to ADAC GT Masters, where I feel pretty well prepared after a good test at the weekend at Lausitzring. We were in the ballpark time-wise, maybe three-tenths off the best, so it’s a good start and we can look forward to a solid programme there with Schubert Motorsport.”

The Imola GT World Challenge race weekend gets underway with the first official session on Saturday morning, with qualifying later in the day. The three-hour race starts at 13.30 CET.
