Nick Yelloly looks forward to BMW Motorsport factory racing return

BMW Motorsport works driver Nick Yelloly is looking forward to getting both his Nürburgring Endurance Series and ADAC GT Masters Series programmes underway this month with Rowe Racing and Schubert Motorsport respectively.

Nick has also been undertaking simulator duties for the Racing Point Formula 1 team and later – in a busy and compressed season – will return to the Intercontinental GT World Challenge at Indianapolis Motor Speedway with Walkenhorst Motorsport.

“I started back with the Racing Point simulator work in early June to help the team prepare for the Austrian Grand Prix,” Nick explained. “It was strange as everything was so socially distanced, but it is the way it has to be; it was good to be back with the team. I’ve also been busy training – a lot of cycling – and getting ready for circuit racing and I’ve certainly run out of things to post on my Instagram account during the lockdown!”

Nick will take part in rounds two and three of the Nürburgring Endurance Series, formerly VLN, alongside Alexander Sims on Saturday and Lucas Auer on Sunday in the Rowe Racing BMW M6 GT3. Having won the six-hour qualifying race last year, he is looking forward to his return to the championship.

“The team has completed its first race of the season well,” he explained. “We’ll take that information and race data and see if we can build on that round one result.”

Additionally, Nick is preparing to race in the ADAC GT Masters Series alongside fellow BMW Motorsport racer Henric Skoog, with testing ahead of the opening round at Lausitzring, Germany.

“We have several days of running lined up for testing which is a positive,” Nick continued. “The team has a great pedigree in the Series and I’m happy to be with them on their ADAC return. We cannot make any great assumptions at this phase of the season, but the aim is to maximise the performance of the package and make progress round to round.”

Rounds 2 and 3 of the Nürburgring Endurance Series take place July 11 and 12, ADAC GT Masters rounds 1 and 2 are on July 31 – August 2. The Intercontinental GT World Challenge resumes at Indianapolis in October.
